Vale Jeff ChevertonWith deep sorrow, the staff and board of Brisbane North PHN acknowledge the unexpected passing of our friend and colleague Jeff Cheverton last week.

As Deputy CEO of our PHN and previously Medicare Local between 2012 – 2016, Jeff brought his passion, wisdom, insight and vision to our organisation and our network. Jeff was a driving force for change, shaping policy across primary health care, community aged care and mental health.

Jeff had recently moved to Melbourne to work with the North Western Melbourne PHN, where he remained an active and influential leader in the PHN network across the county. Jeff had a longstanding and influential career in health and human services. He was a strong advocate for social justice and inclusiveness and we will forever remember his commitment, actions and determination to making the world a better and more equal place for all. Jeff’s passion for life was second to none, his humour, laughter and warmth was felt by all who knew him and we will treasure the wonderful memories of time spent with him.  We share our heartfelt condolences with Jeff’s partner Roddie, his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Jeff’s family has asked us to share details of the below events which will help to celebrate Jeff’s life.

  • Funeral service will be in Melbourne on Sunday 12 March 2017 at Footscray Community Arts Centre, 45 Moreland St, Footscray from 11-1pm with a wake to follow in Newport.
  • Memorial Service will be held on Saturday 18 March 2017 at Orleigh Park, Orleigh Street in West End, Brisbane from 3pm.

Everyone is welcome to these events. In lieu of flowers and to help support Jeff’s family during this time a Go Fund Me page has been set up for anyone who would like to contribute.
